When do your choices begin each day?
Before you even open your eyes in the morning, you’ve usually chosen when to wake up and when your feet will hit the floor. Every choices you face, and every decision you make, defines your life.
It is a continuous process. Think about it.
Lately I have had several projects due and have found myself finishing each one at the very last minute. I may start with plenty of time to complete it, yet the final touches are put on at the “ninth hour.” I make a "last minute" choice.
There are things I put up with day after day, and each one uses up part of my energy. I can choose to tackle these things, or tolerate them:
the pile on the stairs that needs to go up stays there until I say, “that will take less than two minutes to do,” and so I do it. I make a "getting rid of tolerations" choice.
The choices we face and the decisions we make define our lives. We can accept the way things are or we can decide to change them.
Two places that needed changing for me were: the Christmas collection in the attic and the storeroom in the garage. Before my Thanksgiving guests arrived, I recycled extra boxes and organized the Christmas ones, so it was easier to know what to bring down from the attic to decorate for Christmas. Also, because I attacked the storeroom, I knew right where to find the tools and timers we needed to decorate. I made a "save the peace" choice.
Clearing the clutter in December has opened up space in my life which I intent to fill with the fresh energy of a New Year! Will you make the same choice? Yoda, in Star Wars, said, “Do. Or do not. There is no try.”
