July 5, 2012Dare to DreamThe audience attending a recent local production of the "Sound of Music," heard this familiar inspirational song. While on stage, Maria found her dream when she married the Captain. A dream is a cherished desire, and dreams are powerful and need time and attention to become reality. One of the obstacles facing a dreamer is a self-limiting belief of impossibility. The dreamer is the one holding success back by not believing the dream can come true. Right now the 2012 Olympic trials are in progress, and each athlete has a big dream that he or she has trained for years to attain. At 27 years of age, Michael Phelps has qualified in 8 swimming events for his 4th Olympics! Jessica Hardy, also a swimmer, qualified for the 2008 Olympics, only to find herself disqualified because of a positive drug test, and she had to watch those games from the sidelines. Jessica continued to train, however, and in the 2012 trials, she placed first in her event. She said afterward, "I had to stay calm and not doubt and believe in myself." Two Ole Miss athletes have qualified for the London Olympics: Brittney Reese with a 23' 5 1/2" long jump, and sprinter, Isaiah Young. Each Olympic hopeful, no matter the sport, has a coach who guides them to becoming the champions they want to be. The coach tweaks the athletes' strengths and talents to lead them toward their dreams. Implementing a dream, and creating the life you love IS possible. Climb that "dream" mountain and follow that rainbow. Believe. Coaching Questions:
