March 5, 2012Brick Laying………Step TakingEach day as I walk to work, I pass a major University building project. Three 4-story dormitories are being built simultaneously. The contractors started last summer with a plan, built the inside skeleton, topped the building with a red roof, and now the red brick face is going up one brick at a time. They have worked through hot weather and very cold, windy days. Now the vision is becoming a reality. It occurs to me as I watch this progress, that this is also a life lesson. First, design a goal or a dream. Think BIG. Then gather the materials and skilled people needed to help create this dream. If you can do your dream alone it is not a big enough dream. Then take one step at a time, working through the obstacles that show up, and as each day passes, a little more is accomplished. Soon the dream is a reality. University students are a perfect example. Their dream is to be college graduates. They make a plan of study for a 4-year period; with exams, projects and internships during the years. Professors teach and encourage and mentor, so the student can take one step at a time until they reach graduation. Coaching Questions:
