Our June 2013 Newsletter Cameron
Lake Fishing Lodges, Inc. |
Welcome Fishing
Friends! Fishing on Cameron Lake started off cold and wet this year. The fish were a little fussy. But our regular and practiced guests knew how to get it done. And we saw quite a few dandy Walleye in May. June started out pretty cold too. There was a little dusting of snow to contend with the first week. But again, those who have fished Cameron before knew what to do. Temperatures, both air and water, are getting back to more normal conditions and the fishing is picking up. There's still time to join us. Come on up! Are You
Ready to Fish Cameron Lake? We're ready for you.
Please send
me your 2012 photos. deb@cameronlakefishinglodges.com

Getting To Cameron Lake Our arrival day is Saturday and departure is on Friday to accommodate the Algoma Central Railway Schedule. Most of our customers take the Algoma Central Passenger Train (ACR) from Hawk Junction. The train leaves Hawk at 3:20 on Saturday. There is no need to make reservations before your trip. You can buy your tickets when you arrive at the station in Hawk Junction. And be sure to arrive early enough to enjoy a burger at the Big Bear Bar and Grill right across from the train station. You can also catch the Algoma Central Passenger Train or the Agawa Canyon Tour Train in Sault Ste Marie. Call 1-800-242-9287. Arrangements can be made for you to take the Agawa Tour Train, explore the beautiful Agawa Canyon, and then pick up the passenger train north for the rest of your trip. You can learn more about the Agawa Canyon Tour Train here. If you prefer to drive to Oba via Hearst Ontario, you are welcome to leave your vehicle at our boat launch on the river. We ask that you make prior arrangements with us. This may require an overnight stay in the town of Hearst. On the Hearst website, click on Visitors and then Accommodations. Once you are in Oba, we will lead you on a 14-mile, one-hour river trip to Cameron Lake Fishing Lodges and get you and your gear to your cabin. |

Updates at Camp As most of you know, the Island Cabin is done and ready for you! Please book a a party of six or more if you want the Island Cabin. Give me a call for details if you're thinking about renting this gem. We have three new boats for our 2013 fishing season. Made in Temagami, Ontario, these 16 foot Naden Big Fish boats are made especially for the needs of Northern Ontario fishing and will definitely be a pleasure to operate on Cameron Lake! John's Cabin has a new refrigerator. We've picked up a few new fishfinders to replace those that have seen some heavy use. We've added two new picnic tables and one new grill. A new generator is on its way! Thanks to Mr. Chouinard for building picnic tables, fueling boats as needed, keeping the cabin heaters running smoothly and recharging fishfinder batteries. You've kept him busy! Thanks to Mrs. Chouinard for making our cabins so comfortable for our guests. Lunch at Laurie's the first week of June 2013. A new picnic table. |
