Our November 2012 Newsletter Cameron
Lake Fishing Lodges, Inc. |
Hello Fishing
Friends! Welcome to November and all the business it brings. Firearm deer season has begun here in Michigan. And of course, Thanksgiving in the States has given us the opportunity to fill our bellies with good food and our hearts with friends and family. I hope you all ate really, really well and now you are soaking in the joys of the holiday with those you love. Walking the woods daily, I see sign that winter is on its way. But we have yet to see a lasting snow. The leaves have all fallen and ferns have browned and bent to the earth. The woods have taken on that musty smell of decay as leaves and plants are reclaimed by the earth. And there's a stillness not normally present during the summer months. I miss my times at Cameron Lake. But we will all be back there soon. In the meantime, enjoy the richness this time of year brings. With Gratitude

Getting To Cameron Lake Our arrival day is Saturday and departure is on Friday to accommodate the Algoma Central Railway Schedule. If you are driving to Oba, please call me to make arrangements for pickup to get you down the river. Most of our customers take the Algoma Central Passenger Train (ACR) from Hawk Junction. The train leaves Hawk at 3:20 on Saturday. There is no need to make reservations before your trip. You can buy your tickets when you arrive at the station in Hawk Junction. And be sure to arrive early enough to enjoy a burger at the Big Bear Bar and Grill right across from the train station. You can also catch the Algoma Central Passenger Train or the Agawa Canyon Tour Train in Sault Ste Marie. Call 1-800-242-9287. Arrangements can be made for you to take the Agawa Tour Train, explore the beautiful Agawa Canyon, and then pick up the passenger train north for the rest of your trip. You can learn more about the Agawa Canyon Tour Train here. If you prefer to drive to Oba via Hearst Ontario, you are welcome to leave your vehicle at our boat launch on the river. We ask that you make prior arrangements with us. Generally, we need you to be able to follow us from Hearst to Oba on either Friday evening or Saturday morning. This may require an overnight stay in Hearst if you are following us to Oba early on Saturday morning. We will be able to let you know at least one week prior to your trip whether we can take you down the river to camp on Friday evening or Saturday morning. |
