Our October 2012 Newsletter Cameron
Lake Fishing Lodges, Inc. |
Hello Fishing
Friends! So far, October has been a rainy month here in Northern Michigan. The air and water temperatures are plummeting and so are the leaves. We've had a spectacular display of colors this year but the rain is knocking everything to the ground pretty quickly. To our friends in Canada, a belated Happy Thanksgiving. We hope you had a holiday full of family, friends and gratitude for, and reflection on, all things that make your life special. I'm thankful for the time I have each summer on Cameron Lake and for you too, my friends. Fall hunting season has begun and everyone I meet wears at least a touch of orange. I see orange moving among the trees on my walks and among the aisles at the grocery store. All this rain has produced a great crop of fall mushrooms and I'm picking and eating as fast as I can. Enjoy your Fall, wherever you may be and whatever you are doing. Gratitude for the harvest is in the air. Happy Halloween!

Getting To Cameron Lake Our arrival day is Saturday and departure is on Friday to accommodate the Algoma Central Railway Schedule. If you are driving to Oba, please call me to make arrangements for pickup to get you down the river. Most of our customers take the Algoma Central Passenger Train (ACR) from Hawk Junction. The train leaves Hawk at 3:20 on Saturday. There is no need to make reservations before your trip. You can buy your tickets when you arrive at the station in Hawk Junction. And be sure to arrive early enough to enjoy a burger at the Big Bear Bar and Grill right across from the train station. You can also catch the Algoma Central Passenger Train or the Agawa Canyon Tour Train in Sault Ste Marie. Call 1-800-242-9287. Arrangements can be made for you to take the Agawa Tour Train, explore the beautiful Agawa Canyon, and then pick up the passenger train north for the rest of your trip. You can learn more about the Agawa Canyon Tour Train here. If you prefer to drive to Oba via Hearst Ontario, you are welcome to leave your vehicle at our boat launch on the river. We ask that you make prior arrangements with us. Generally, we need you to be able to follow us from Hearst to Oba on either Friday evening or Saturday morning. This may require an overnight stay in Hearst if you are following us to Oba early on Saturday morning. We will be able to let you know at least one week prior to your trip whether we can take you down the river to camp on Friday evening or Saturday morning. |
