Lake Fishing Lodges, Inc. |
Hello Fishing
Friends! Another fishing season has come and gone at Cameron Lake Fishing Lodges, Inc. We want to thank all of you who fish with us. We know you have a choice and we truly appreciate that you choose to fish at Cameron Lake Fishing Lodges, Inc. It's now chilly here in Northern Michigan. I have already had to chip ice out of the dog bowl a couple of mornings during the full moon. And I've heard reports of snow in Hearst. But I know Mother Nature is only bluffing. We still have a few warm days left before we all have to hunker down in front of the fire. During our last days at camp, the loons were gathering in large groups. The geese were honking their way South. And the morning fog rising off the lake after a cold night lingered just a little longer each day. Several times, Michel made his way down the river and around the rocks after dark as there was no longer enough daylight hours in his Fridays to drive to Oba and run the river. And oh, my, the wolves were incredibly vocal during the last week of August. This year, as always on Cameron Lake, our fishing guests were able to get their limit of Pike and Walleye and eat well each day. I saw a few more Jumbo Perch this year over last year. The big issue now on Cameron Lake is trying to catch those Walleye under 18 inches in order to fill your limit. Ray found a couple more "favorite" fishing spots and he has a few new "favorite" lures. Ask him when you get to camp. I'm sure he'll share all his secrets. Ray's Weekly Fish Fry is becoming quite an event and very popular. Part of his secret is Ruby's Banana Chocolate Chip bread, which happens to find its way to camp on occasion. And his fish fry batter is becoming quite the "Secret Recipe." Personally, I manage to sneak more than my share of onion rings. Regarding the Fish Fry, see my naming request below under the "Updates at Camp" section of this newsletter. Angela's big camp project this year was the shower house. You can thank Ang and Michel and Richard for the new gleaming white ceiling, door, cupboards, sink, etc. And I need to mention how much time she spent on the kitchens, ovens and stove tops. I think I start calling her "Shiny." Also, the next time you are at camp, take a look at the floor in John's cabin. Thank You Ray and Ruby! Pretty! And while you may not have yet noticed, the Island Cabin is on its way to a major overhaul. Thank You Michel and Guy and Richard for all the hard work. Soon, our first large party will be enjoying the Island Cabin in 2012. I'll let you know just as soon as it opens up! So far, we know we will be at the Grand Rapids, MI Ultimate Sports Show, March 15 - 18, 2012 and the Traverse City, MI Hunt and Fish Expo, March 23 - 25, 2012. But that's a little too long to wait to visit with you all again. Soooooooooo.... Please send me your photos, to deb@cameronlakefishinglodges.com And.... Give me a call at 231-879-4178 any old time you want to talk fishing! Fish fry Tonight! Joe, Deb and Kirt, June 2011 |
