IT'S TAX TIME AGAIN
Yes, it's that time of the year again. You should have all of your tax
documents in the mail by 1/31/2010. Some companies have placed the tax
documents online. Here is a checklist for you, in case you are missing
something:
1. State sales taxes (such as a new/used car, boat, motor home, etc.)
2. Reinvested dividends
3. Charitable contributions (includes your tithes/offering)
4. Student loan interest
5. Travel expense (military, job related move)
6. Child care credit
7. Estate tax on inheritance (yes, you have to pay taxes on the money
grandma left you)
8. State taxes paid on 2008 return
9. Property taxes
10. Refinancing points (if you were lucky enough to refinance)
11. Jury fee and travel expense (jury duty)
12. Casualty loss deductible (deductible you paid for any insurance
claims)
13. Hope credit (education)
14. Energy credit (energy efficient products-30%)
15. Homebuyer tax credit
Take advantage of as many tax credits as possible--it is your bailout
package.
