NOTE: We had some technical difficulties with the newsletter yesterday. This one should work better.
The key word in this quote is “accept.” If you accept the status quo, then you are not willing to accept responsibility for change. Life Coaching is for those who want to make a change in one way or another: personally, socially, or in the community. Discovering what it is you really, really want means taking small steps toward your heart’s yearnings or your life’s mission. Since having someone walk beside you makes the task easier, any goal that you can accomplish alone is not a big enough goal.
Mr. Summers, from Los Angeles, honored his heart when he decided to build a tiny house on wheels for a woman, homeless for almost a decade. A You-Tube video of his building this house has been viewed by 5.6 million people.* Summers thought he was helping one person and maybe a dozen more by himself with approximately $500 for each house. Yet many others have stepped up with offerings of time, money and building materials, so now his goal is much bigger and he has established a non-profit: Tiny House; Huge Purpose. He has also contacted the city of Los Angeles in hopes that they too will get involved.
Summers took a small step on his own in response to his heart’s yearning to help a homeless woman. He did not accept the status quo. Now that many others have stepped up, his goal has grown and will make a huge impact in the life of the homeless in Los Angeles. Builders, contactors, chefs and volunteers will walk beside Mr. Summer in accomplishing his lofty goal.
Coaching Questions:
- Are you accepting the status quo?
- Will you take responsibility for the changes you want to see in yourself?
- When will you discover what you really, really want?
- What is next for you?
- Is it time to call me to be your life coach?
