We have great news to share with you about upcoming classes in Seattle. Two wonderful stained glass studios have invited us to teach workshops in Seattle and Burien, Washington during the month of July, and we are excited! Not just because I was born in Seattle, but because it is just such a lovely area, we can't wait to be there for most of the month of July.
Ken, at Seattle Stained Glass, has been working with us on a beautiful Fall landscape workshop that will be held July 13, 14, and 20 and 21, 2013. Seattle Stained Glass is one of the premier stained glass studios in the northwest for stained glass and architectural glass, and I'm sure the visit to their facility will be exciting. All of the "watercolor" techniques that we have developed for landscapes including dimension and texture and the use of frit and stringer will be covered in this class. My understanding is that the class is already more than half full. For information call Ken at 206-632-1319.
Glass Expressions has been a landmark stained glass studio in Burien, WA, since 1974. Kathy Johnson has owned the studio since 1983 and partnered with Lael Schmidt in 1993. Aside from being stained glass artists, Kathy creates amazing lamp worked beads, and Lael designs gorgeous fused glass jewelry. During our two and a half day class there, we are going to make a wonderful panel that includes a lovely little chickadee and magnolia. All the techniques that we developed to bring so much dimension and texture to a piece will be taught in this class including shading in a "painterly" way with frit and the use of stringer and rods as accessory pieces. For information call 206-242-2860.
One more thing! We just had a cancellation in the Texas Oak in the Wildflowers class, so that gives someone an opportunity to sign up now...class begins for the three day workshop on May 18, 19, off the 20th for firing, and finish May 21. Only 5 in the class, and we will make a gorgeous 13" x 18" panel. Recently, one of our students sold their class project for a $1,000.00! How wonderful is that? We're very excited for her. You can do it too! :)
As always, we hope you are all doing well and take a step out of the boat onto the water....it is exciting!

PS. Pictures here represent the type of project to be done, but class projects will be different.
