February 5, 2013
Well, the holidays have come and gone, and we have been doubly blessed this year. Two new Christmas granddaughters were born within a week of Christmas, and we are very excited about that! There are some things other than glass to live for....but not many! :)
Our year begins with a wonderful Egret workshop the end of February, and we have planned a totally new design for the piece. We have ONE SPACE LEFT! because one of our students had a conflict with her job. As we sometimes do, we gave our students a Christmas discount that was not announced on the website, and now the fee for the workshop is $700 for the 4 day class where we make a lovely dimensional egret that is 11" x 20"! It is gorgeous! So if you have always wanted to learn to make beautiful, shaded, dimensional birds with torch-pulled feathers.....this is the workshop for you.
We've decided to cancel the Tulip class this spring which leaves only the Texas Oaks in the Wildflowers in May. That class has two students signed up already, and there will only be six total. Taking watercolor techniques and applying them to glass is something that we love to teach, and it is a wonderfully textured and dimensional piece.
In March we are at Hot Glass Houston, www.hotglasshouston.com, for the Chickadee in the Magnolias, and as usual, we love to be there with Bob Paterson. It is always a treat! The delicacy of this piece reminds me of the style of the Japanese woodblock artists from the 1700's-1800's. It is lovely.
It looks as if we will be going to Seattle to teach in July! That will be exciting! We'll have more on that at a later time, but if you are in that area and are interested, please email us. More later.
We hope that you all have a wonderful year....keep healthy...and enjoy your work!
