November 23, 2012
John and I want to send our warmest wishes for each of you over the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah holidays. So many of you have touched our lives and made this year very special for us. Through our classes, not only have we shared our knowledge and love of glass with students, but they have taught and shared with us. Although the studio is a business, it is much more important to us that we have acquired many wonderful friends and spent many hours in a productive, yet fun, endeavor to create beautiful art glass. You have blessed us!
Many of you have asked about our classes for the next year, and we have come up with a schedule for the first half of the year. Some of you have asked for classes that would be for those beginning in fused glass. If you have never had a glass class, then I would suggest that you take a beginning fusing class from another studio like Hot Glass Houston to learn some basics in cutting and fusing. Some of the workshops listed below will be for those who want to learn by working on smaller beginning/intermediate projects. Each workshop will teach different techniques and cover different material, but all will produce a lovely piece to take home!
We also have a list of students who are waiting for more advanced workshops to be scheduled. In the spring, we have only four intermediate and/or advanced workshops which include the Gorgeous Egret workshop (Advanced) in Feb, the Chickadee in the Magnolias (Advanced) at Hot Glass Houston in March. the Tulips, Tulips, Tulips workshop in April (Intermediate/Advanced), and the Texas Oak in the Wildflowers in May (Intermediate/Advanced). In Sept. and/or early Nov., we will probably schedule one large, advanced landscape workshop, but that is not on the schedule yet. At the moment, this is all that will be scheduled for the coming year, and because we have so many asking for these workshops, I would urge you to send in the deposit of half of the class fee as soon as possible as we take students on a first come, first served basis to be fair.
