Greetings and Blessings from Donna and John Sarafis!
Things as usual just aren't usual here at Dancing Light Studio since we won first place in the Delphi Festival competition in May. We have been overwhelmed by all of you who have emailed congratulations and written such wonderful words about our work. You really have encouraged us. And, thank you, Delphi. Because of the award, we have students coming from as far away as Florida, California, Michigan, and Pennsylvania! More about classes later.
The studio is busy with work on a commissioned piece for Crow Holdings in Dallas, and two new gallery exhibitions starting in August!
On August 1st, our pieces will be displayed at the Texas Visual Arts Association Gallery located in the Plaza of the America's, Dallas, for the whole month. We will be the sole exhibitor in the main room of that same gallery for the whole month of November, and we are so excited about the opportunity to be introduced to Dallas art glass lovers. Thank you TVAA!
Mid-September we will begin showing our work at a wonderful gallery in Round Top called, fittingly enough, The Gallery at Round Top! For those of you attending the huge antique show in the area, we invite you to come by the gallery at 203 E. Austin, just one block from the courthouse. Their gallery carries wonderful art created in many mediums!
Classes, workshops, etc.....We have decided not to do but one more workshop (Sept.) for the rest year. In the next year, we will probably have no more than four workshops before April, and, then none until Aug. Our workshops will probably be limited to no more than 8 per year. Three or four of them will be in January and February, and will probably consist of 2 landscape classes, 1 weave class, and one floral class. For that reason.....if you are interested in a class before Aug. of next year, please call us as soon as you can. Our large workshops are going to be limited to 3-4 students for 3-4 days.
There is one alternative! I am teaching at Hot Glass Houston also. August 21, I am teaching a one-day landscape workshop for Bob Patterson in Tomball. We will be making a 12" square oaks in the wildflowers in ONE day....that's a lot of work! Bob is wonderful, and facilitates a great class for a GREAT Price!!! AND....you walk away with a lovely piece you could sell for what you paid for the class. You just can't beat that deal!
There will be more one-day workshops with Bob to come...look him up at www.hotglasshouston.com. He is also the ONLY Bullseye retailer in the whole of SW Texas, and on top of that, he's just a great guy! Go see him....
The first landscape workshop will be the third weekend in January starting on Fri. and going through Mon. Each student will make a large panel landscape (approx. 15 x 20) for only $600 and cost of shipping the panel FedEx (plus ins.). Bring nothing but a desire to work hard and make something beautiful!
Remember, there are only 3-4 per class, and only possibly 4 landscape classes for the whole year. If you think you just "can't live w/o it," enroll as early as you can. We really do strive to make our workshops "one of a kind." So much information, so much glass, and so much fun can't be found anywhere else. :) Call or write us if you have questions.
New class schedule will be on our website by September 1, but if you can't wait....call.
