Hi, Taggart here, from Reiki Evolution. This might seem like a bit of a provocative title, but there have been very many changes introduced into Reiki as it has passed from one teacher to another in the West, and that includes the use of and the look of the various Reiki symbols. Some symbols have morphed and mutated as they have been passed from teacher to student, teacher to student, looking very little like what you would have been shown in Japan in Usui's time, and some have been creatively flipped and rotated and had associations attached to them that were never there in the time of Usui.
Take CKR, for example: there was only one CKR and it looked a particular way. Some people have been taught a CKR that does not look like it should, and some people have been taught multiple variations. Now there's nothing wrong with experimenting and coming to your own conclusions, but I think we need to know what the original was, and what it was all about, and to know what are later creative variations. This is what today's article is all about.
