Our October 2015 Newsletter Cameron
Lake Fishing Lodges, Inc. |
Welcome
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to our Canadian Friends! And HAPPY HALLOWEEN to you all! And to those of you on the moose and/or deer hunt, BONNE CHANCE! A BIG Thank You to everyone who joined us this year on Cameron Lake. We appreciate you. There were certainly some challenges this year with the loss of the Algoma Central Railway in July. We apologize to those of you who had to cancel. And we are grateful to those of you who made the twists and turns and rescheduling necessary to change your train plans and drive to Oba. Thanks! Stakeholders in the Algoma Central Railway (ACR) are still working on solutions. If you're interested in following their progress, you can read updates at the Coalition for Algoma Passenger Trains |

Getting To Cameron Lake The Algoma Central Railway (ACR) Passenger Service is not yet running but we are hopeful that service will resume in 2016. So for now, plan to drive to Oba via Hearst Ontario. We have parking space for you at our boat launch on the river. You may prefer an overnight stay in the town of Hearst. On the Hearst website, click on Visitors and then Accommodations. Or email me for our recommendations. Our Cameron Lake Fishing Lodges signs are now posted along the Caithness and Oba roads, directing you to Oba Ontario. I'm also happy to send you directions. While you have a longer drive to Hearst and then to Oba, there are some advantages:
We can pick you up in Oba and get you down the river to camp for your week of fishing on either Friday at 10:00 a.m. or Saturday at 5:30 p.m. If the train is NOT running in 2016, the Saturday time will likely change to earlier in the day as it was originally set to coordinate with the train arrival. Everyone returns to Oba from camp early Friday morning. Please Call me with your questions. 231-879-4178 |
